Our 6th annual Moloka'i Cleanup at Mo'omomi Beach is on August 17th and we are inviting you to join us again as we aim to remove tons of trash from this fragile coastline. One of the highlights of this event is that our partnership with Pu'u o Hoku Ranch, The Nature Conservancy, Matson and Parley for the Oceans allowed for none of the debris to remain on Moloka'i. It was sent to Oahu where we recycled or incinerated it with our partners Parley for the Oceans and Covanta Energy / HPower. This year we plan to do the same.
We will begin check in at 9:00AM at the Pavillion. At 9:30AM after proper protocol we will split off into groups to clean the hot spots of debris accumulation.
At noon we will return for a BBQ and games for the keiki.
Big thanks to the The Kaauwai Family, the community of Moloka'i, Matson, Parley for the Oceans and Hawaiian Airlines for making this event work.
Educational outreach in schools and community groups will begin on August 12th. We welcome inquiries interested in receiving our presentations. They can range for all ages and can be tailored to 20 - 55 minutes. Audiences will learn about marine debris, plastic pollution, and what we can do to keep our beaches clean. Email email@example.com.
If you want to be involved in a larger scale we encourage you to send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are looking for sponsors to cover the remaining costs of the cleanup.
